The original film led to a bit of a resurgence in the zombie drama and it doesn’t reference any of that.

Back in 2002, Danny Boyle directed the fantastic post-apocalyptic zombie film, 28 Days Later, based on the script by Alex Garland and starring Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston, Megan Burns, and Brendan Gleeson.
